Amazon has been busy putting Alexa into the hands of any partner it can find, but in a leak today the retail giant accidentally revealed an image ofa possible home security cam with Alexa.
The image was found by AFTV News and shows a home camera with Amazon’s branding. It was discoveredwhile script trawling for new products on the site. The camera has a blue circle at the bottom, similar to the blue circle atop the Amazon Echo, that hints at an Alexa function. It also has four LED bulbs that surround the blue circle that might be used for night-time recording and two small dots at the top that are possibly microphones.
Given how prevalent Alexa has been since its debut on the Echo, Amazon’s push to include it into more products is a smart one. So, too, is the decision to make the camera system interact with users through Alexa. In theory, users can turn it on and off whenever they want to. This might also help alleviate some privacy concerns that may come by having an always-on system with a camera in your home.
Amazon is not done with original hardware
It was only a matter of time before Amazon made another hardware push with Alexa. It’s been working with third-party partners to include Alexa’s service in their products, but the easiest medium to access the personal assistant right now is through the Amazon Echo. This might bethe first of manydifferent products Amazon might introduce with the smart assistant over the upcoming years.
