The Christmas celebrations are now over, so is the New Year's holiday, and the Parsix GNU/linux developers are back, porting the latest security updates from the upstream Debian GNU/Linux repositories.

So if you've been waiting to update your Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" or Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" (still in development) installations, this is the perfect moment to do it two the both of them. All the recently released security updates from Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" (a.k.a. Debian Unstable) have landed for these two distributions.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the security page of the project.

Apache Tomcat and GraphicsMagick received new versions

Among the packages that received new security patches in this update, we can mention both the Apache Tomcat 7 and 8 releases, the GraphicsMagick image processing system, as well as the libvncserver, exim4, libcrypto++, libphp-phpmailer, libgd2, dcmtk, and PCSC-Lite libraries.

Users are urged to update their installations as soon as possible to receive the new security versions of the software packages mentioned above. To update, simply run the following command in a terminal emulator or a virtual console. After that, it's wise to reboot your machine, though it isn't necessary.

We always recommend installing the newest updates on your Linux-based operating system as soon as they're available in the stable repositories, and Parsix GNU/Linux users are kept up-to-date by the developers of the Debian-based distro every two weeks or so. Meanwhile, the development of Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" continues a slow pace.
