Indigitous is a movement founded by Cru , an organization that seeks to connect people to Jesus using digital strategies.
The name of the movement comes from the fusion of two ideas - indigenous , because it reflects our desire to develop locally-generated strategies that work in each generation, language and culture, and digital , because we believe digital tools, resources, platforms and strategies can accelerate God's mission.
We believe that we must help resource Christians and Christian organizations everywhere to offer multiple online opportunities to connect with the Gospel and become a multiplying disciple.
We are also equipping others online to lead through planting groups, ministries, churches, or networks of christians where none currently exist. To do this, we are helping disciples and teams to collaborate and find, use, create and share digital media, tools and strategies in effective ways.
As Christians participating with indigitous, we see ourselves as part of the same body wherever we are.
Indigitous Classic conferences are our headline events around the world. They are designed to attract participants from multiple countries and span several days with a broader program. There will be several high quality speakers and also a significant period of time spent working in teams on Indigitous projects.
We will hold the Indigitous Johannesburg event on October 14-15, 2016
Indigitous #Hack is your opportunity to bring people together from around the world in order to build technology that matters, and to have a long-term impact on your community. We'd love to have you join us this November 4th-6th, 2016 , in cities & universities around the world.
Who Is Indigitous #Hack For?YOU! #Hack welcomes anyone who shares the vision about how technology can be used to positively impact our world. This event is for everyone.
While our work focuses on all kinds of technology, you don't have to be a programmer or coder to get involved. We need designers, photographers, writers, project managers, social media gurus creative thinkers of all types!
The most important skill sets are the abilities to work with others and find ways to solve problems. Also, while Indigitous #Hack is explicitly Christian, participants from any (or no) faith background are openly welcomed.
How Can I Get Involved? There are a number of ways you can be a part of #Hack it’s kind of a choose your own adventure!
Help us spread the word. You can help tell the story and get people excited for what’s happening. You know people who will care about this vision and want to support it, sponsor it, or build something awesome at it. Help spread the word. Lead an event in your city. You can lead an event in your city or on your campus, or join a team to do exactly that. Anyone who is well-organized, good at delegating, and able to pull people together can be a local host! Hosts could be college students, young professionals, campus staff, or anyone with a heart to see the local community jump in on this vision. Be a mentor. We are looking for mentors to participate the weekend of the event. The best mentors are people who ask good questions and help people iterate and improve their work. They serve as a resource person for participants to help with ideation, untangle thorny issues, define team roles and workflow, and prepare for final presentations. You can hack! We are all in this because we want to create something awesome. Whatever your skills or background, jump in on a team and make a contribution. In addition to a virtual event , we will hold a number of #Hack events in various African cities - Addis Ababa , Lagos , Hawassa ,
What's So Special About #Hack?Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12).
We are one body and the only way for us to address the challenges that are before us is as one body. Many of us have a heart to contribute to constructive solutions, wishing we could do something about Bible poverty, children's discipleship, addiction, security for field workers and other issues. These big problems are too much for any one of us but not too big for all of us.
When we each share our gifts and our perspectives, new solutions become possible that can't be seen on a smaller scale. #Hack calls anyone who is willing to serve to come create, use and leverage technologies to advance the Gospel, becoming "digital missionaries" from right where they are. This is a platform for you to contribute and for the world to receive...
