Motorola has released the monthly software updates for many of its smartphones. As you would expect, these updates cover three key areas:
(1) performance improvements
(2) resolving identified bugs or defects, and
(3) the security updates for the operating system, in this case, Android.
The phones to have received the updates in the last week include the Moto X4 , Moto Z3 , Moto G5 , Moto G5s and the Moto G4 Plus .
Apart from this, Motorola has also updated the following devices in the first half of December: Moto Z2 Play , Moto G and Moto e5 Play .
The maintenance release notes of all these phones from the Support page of Motorola.com website suggests that these devices have all got the December security patch updates which Motorola releases every month. This would clear any minor issues in the functioning of the device if any.
General Instructions and InformationAs always, Motorola has issued some standard directions to all users of its smartphones on how to handle the updates. These are over-the-air (OTA) updates and with the cooperation of the service providers, the updates reach your phone and notification pops up on your phone’s display screen. It will say a new software update is available and would you like it to be installed. Just make sure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi and the battery is showing 50% power or more. Tap ‘yes’ and the download and installation will happen automatically. Once it is done, restart your device.
In case you know the updates are available but for some reason the notification did not show up, you can manually do this through the Settings >> System >> System Updates >> Download and Install path. You will have restart as above to end the process and enjoy the use of the Moto device.
