Data centre operator Data Exchange Networks has appointed 20-year industry veteran John Duffin to its board as a non-executive director as the company expands its modular data centre solutions.

A statement from DXN said Duffin had most recently been the South Asia managing director of the Uptime Institute, a trusted and adopted global standard for the design, build and operation of reliable data centres.

Duffin is a chartered engineer who has experience in mechanical and electrical engineering design, consultancy and business operations in Asia, Japan, Australia and the UK.

DXN chief executive and co-founder Peter Christie said: “John has unparalleled experience within the Asian data centre industry which will help inform and drive our aggressive expansion plans into the burgeoning Asian data centre market.

"He has a vast network and wealth of knowledge that will be invaluable to Data Exchange Network’s strategic business operations.”

Duffin said, “I’ve been immersed in the data centre industry in South East Asia for over two decades and Data Exchange Networks’ globally innovative data centre approach is particularly well placed to capitalise on the exponential growth in demand for agile and flexible data centre solutions in the Colocation and Edge Markets.

"I’m looking forward to working with the DXN management team to assist with their strategic operations as they embark upon their next stage of development.”

DXN claims it will soon be the only developer able to deliver Tier-III and Tier-IV, pre-fabricated modular data centres.

It is currently building two colocation centres in Melbourne and Sydney with additional centres slated for development throughout 2019/20.
